“A Behavioral Health Center of Excellence is an Applied Behavior Analysis Service Provider that is recognized as meeting quality standards as measured by this organization. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a method of intervention that applies leading principles of learning and initiative from the study of behavior. There are many ways that ABA help support learners in socially significant behaviors including communication, academics, motor skills, dressing, eating, work skills and many more. ABA is the most widely recognized evidence-based treatment for autism.

It is our goal to measure factors related to excellence in the field of ABA. The Center of Excellence distinction indicates that a provider can adopt and implement quality standards that promote thriving outcomes for their clients.

Regardless of a provider’s size, clinical scope, or budget, these standards can be applied to the specifics of any organization to become a Center of Excellence. The core tenets of a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence include:

  • Qualified and adequately trained staff

  • Quality clinical treatment programming

  • High levels of caregiver involvement and collaboration

  • Accessibility to service

  • Consumer satisfaction built on a culture of consumer education

  • Employee satisfaction built on continuing supervision, professional growth and supervision

  • Continuous measures of client outcome”

In June 2020, Cayman ABA was awarded a 3-year accreditation, which is the highest level of accreditation possible. A summary of our results are quoted below:

Overall, the results indicated that this organization operates a quality program that is ready to grow and scale ethically. Specifically, the clinical interview revealed strengths in treatment program and planning and ethics. These strengths are in line with the findings of the staff survey and caregiver survey which indicate that caregivers report 91% satisfaction with scheduling, while employees report 93% satisfaction with scheduling. It is noted that higher levels of satisfaction with scheduling in both employees and parents yield better treatment outcomes. Employees who are happy with their work schedule are more likely to show up to work on time, call-out of work less, and thus provide consistent treatment to the patients served. Parents who are satisfied with their child’s treatment schedule are less likely to miss appointments, participate in their child’s treatment, both of which positively impacts the child’s response to therapy.

Cayman ABA showed strengths in all areas of the clinical interview, scoring 100% in each subsection. Cayman ABA’s onboarding process indicated that both supervisory-level and technician-level employees are adequately qualified. Cayman ABA requires that all technician-level employees attain the RBT credential and supervisory-level are BCBA credentialed. This organization has developed sophisticated onboarding training and competency-based assessments for all levels of new employees. Cayman ABA provides ongoing supervision and training opportunities for employees. Highly qualified and well-trained employees are the backbone of a successful organization and we applaud Cayman ABA.

In addition to excellent onboarding and training procedures, Cayman ABA provides equally as great treatment program and planning for their patients served. Cayman regularly evaluates patient progress through standardized assessments and measures patient outcomes through data analysis. Cayman ABA uses the Outcomes Analysis tool developed by BHCOE to measure organizational outcomes and makes data driven decisions based on the individual and organizational outcomes. This organization develops treatment goals based off peer-reviewed literature and best-practices. Kudos to Cayman ABA for providing high-quality clinical care to their patients served.

With any evaluation, there are always recommendations for growth and improvement. In the next three years, Cayman ABA should evaluate new systems related to employee and parent training. During the clinical interview, it was discussed that the organization was in progress of developing Google Classrooms to supplement onboarding and ongoing training as well as training opportunities with parents. It is recommended that Cayman ABA systematically evaluate these new training procedures to ensure that employees continue to report high levels of satisfaction with the training procedures.

Cayman ABA provides services to individuals with behavioral health needs, which reflect the quality characteristics indicative of a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence.

Based on the described findings and overall clinical interview score at or above 96%, this provider meets the standards of 3-Year Accreditation as a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence. The date of issue for this accreditation is 6/30/2020 and the reaccreditation date is 6/30/2023.
